HP's Voodoo Envy 133 Notebook

Which of these three giant manufacturers of slim notebooks should be rewarded the ‘thinnest’ notebook title: Apple’s MacBook Air 1.86GHz, Dell’s Adamo luxury notebook, or HP’s Voodoo ‘Envy’ 13-inch? It is extremely difficult to tell, since they all, battling to have a piece of this honorable title seem to take on each other. Nonetheless, each one of them has its own particularity which attracts respective users. And HP’s Voodoo notebook makes people green with ‘Envy’ with its thin, appealing design. It is not surprising that the is not suspicious of its rivals…

Should we remember a defiant statement made a year ago by HP’s Chief Technology Officer Rahul Sood at his birthday where cutting his cake with a MacBook Air notebook sarcastically said:“Well, I wouldn’t be needing this notebook for long anyways”… This would sound a little bit arrogant to most of uAs, but Sood was not wrong to implicitly unveil at his playful birthday party the superb innovation that was set for techno-mania.

The Voodoo Envy 133 Notebook: Taking on the MacBook Air

On the outside point of view, the Voodoo Envy 133 (which name is derived from the backlit LED WXGA 13.3-inch widescreen display) is a thin, good-looking notebook. As slim (around 0.7-inch) as the traditional MacBook and having the lighter (almost 3.4 pounds) of the MacBook Air, HP’s Voodoo Envy 133 would be best compared with Lenovo’s 13-inch X300.

One of the distinguish thing about the Voodoo Envy 133 that other notebooks of its kinds do not integrate is its particularly smart innovation. The thrilling tool that makes HP’s Voodoo Envy 133 notebook so special is the ‘Voodoo Aura PowerConnect’. This integrated gadget reduces users’ worries of struggling to fit the jack into the system, given that the Ethernet jack is located on the power brick, and performs as an ‘ad hoc’ point-to-point Wi-Fi connection, which is automatically established between the RJ45 and HP’s Envy notebook. In order words, users can unplug and sticking around without being tied to their Ethernet cable in areas like hotels, balcony, and other spaces that have no Wi-Fi router but wired Internet access.

Another amazing and useful thing about the Voodoo Envy 133 is that it comes with an Instant-On menu, which actually allows users access a web browser and even Skype without having to boot into Windows.

Whilst advocating smart innovation, HP’s Voodoo Envy 133 notebook bypasses all other thin laptops in town and even the alleged world’s slimmest laptop MacBook Air by housing in more ports and features. HP’s Voodoo Envy 133 comes with two USB 2.0 ports for headphone and microphone, a shared e-SATA/USB, a HDMI video output with a HDMI-VGA adaptor, a 3G HSDPA mobile broadband integrated, and a replaceable battery. The Voodoo Envy 133 includes an external USB optical drive as well, an Intel processor that according to HP has been fixed into the Voodoo Envy 133’s high-surface shine carbon fiber chassis with custom micro-weave design.

Unlike other thin laptops, the Voodoo Envy 133 allows users choose between a SSD flash or a hard drive. HP’s Voodoo Envy 133 laptop also includes integrated wireless 802.11 ABGN plus a Bluetooth, and an integrated webcam.

Less I forget: the Voodoo Envy 133 also uses a proximity sensor system that recognizes when fingers are on the keyboard and turns off the touchpad so as to abort any accidental movement of the cursor.

Users can also adjust the display brightness in accordance with its surrounding environment.

Starting at $2.099 and available in a variety of colors, HP’s Voodoo has all what it takes to induce stirrings of envy amongst Apple’s MacBook Air skinny notebook.
