There are plenty of great attractions to get through and a self drive tour is the most pertinent way to explore the town of Port Elizabeth. Most tourist advisors recommend that visitors hire a car to explore the many eye-catching sights and local attractions in the area of Port Elizabeth. The following are some of the most popular excursions that I will personally recommend to visitors:
Exploration of PE’s Spectacular Attraction Sites
Bayworld
Featuring the Snake Park, the Maritime Museum, and Oceanarium, Bayworld, which stands as a beachfront complex, is probably the most popular attraction in PE. The Oceanarium hosts an entertaining dolphin show, aquarium tank, where visitors can outlook the vast array of marine life, whilst the Snake Park is home to a wide range of snakes. Bayworld’s Maritime Museum spotlights sea trading in the area in times past.Donkin Reserve
With reference to other tourists’ experiences, visitors will be lured by Port Elizabeth as offering a wide range of historical attractions.
A 5km trail of 47 architectural beauty and historical sites awaits visitors in the Old Hill region of central Port Elizabeth. One of the most interesting historical attractions is the Historic Donkin Heritage trail, which gives visitors the opportunity to discover and follow in the footsteps of the 1820 British Settlers on their expedition of settlement and discovery. The area was named after the 19th century British Governor of the area. Visitors can take in the stone pyramid monument with an adjacent lighthouse, which was built in 1861.St George’s Park and Settler’s Park
Port Elizabeth is a whole package of real excursion material. The town exposes some magnificence large parks with well-landscaped gardens. PE boasts two illustrious parks: The Settler’s Park, which is situated in the heart of the city, and St George’s Park, which compiles world’s top treasuries. Covering 54 hectare, Settler’s Park is a nature lover’s paradise as it integrates attractive flora and fauna. As per St George’s Park, it prides itself on a 73-hectare and is home to Prince Alfred’s Guard Memorial, the world famous Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, which is certainly the oldest Bowling Green in South Africa, and the 1882 Edwardian Pearson Conservatory; a national monument packed with orchids, lilies, and other exotic plants. Visitors can enjoy the excellent crafts and arts fair, which is held here every second Sunday.Grahamstown
Situated 125km to the northeast of PE, Grahamstown is overlooked by the 1820 Settlers National Monument. This arts and theatre complex holds the town’s annual Arts Festival in July. The town integrates several museums as well. Grahamstown is also home to the famous Rhodes University and top private boarding schools.
